“Get Bold!”

I remember working at a landscaping store in Tulsa, Ok where I had a variety of duties that included loading mulch, arranging plants and anything else that was needed in the retail portion of the business.

One winter afternoon I was given the job of repairing the wheels on a rolling ladder used for stocking an assortment of pots and garden products. As I worked on the ladder, I realized that I was unable to loosen the bolts on one of the wheels as it had been seized by rust. I walked back over to the main retail store, approached one of my managers and began to inform him that I needed assistance. He smirked and said, “You don’t need help, you just want to take another employee over with you to waste time and play around.” This bothered me because my request for support was sincere. I’ll never forget my response. With respect but also boldness I said, “Do you want to fix the ladder?” He replied, “No!” I said, “I’m not playing. If you want me to fix the ladder I need help.” He said with a startled reply, “Ok, take one of the other guys with you and get it done, but hurry and send him back as soon as it’s wrapped up.” Many times people just want to know you believe in what you’re saying. The devil is no different.

The enemy is persistently endeavoring to hinder you from accomplishing the assignment God has given you by belittling you to the point you second-guess yourself, doubt begins to grow and insecurity sets in. He does this by attacking your sonship and position in Christ. He does this by bringing up past faults and present failures. He wants to produce in you a fear that stops you from operating in your authority and new nature that is in God Himself. This new nature is not and cannot be earned, ever. Romans 5:17 says, “For if by one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” Righteousness is the life and nature of God given to you in your recreated spirit and is what is used to reign as a king over any and every area of life. You may not have realized your right standing was under attack but Satan knows that if he can get you to draw back when questioned then he can hold you captive at will. This is where sickness, poverty and stress become masters in your life.

Proverbs 28:1 says, “The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”

If we are to be bold, there must be a carefree, confident and secure trust in Christ and all He accomplished through the work of the cross and His ascension to the right hand of the Father. This comes from a steady diet and meditation of the word of God.

When righteousness is known and understood there comes a boldness that will respond to the threatening voice that discredits your position in order to weaken the outcome of the mission. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.” In other words, it’s not about what we have heard (past tense); it’s more about a revealed knowledge of absolute truth that causes you to fight for your rights and enforce the nature of Christ over every situation. It’s demanding the adherence of all things to the dominion of heaven.

Ephesians 3:12 says, “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.” Listen to those words, Boldness, Access and Confidence. There’s nothing being held back by God where your life is concerned. It’s a matter of being done with the devil trespassing on purchased property and with aggressive confidence, putting him in his place and accomplishing the task.

Let me encourage you, don’t allow the devil to question your righteous actions with the purpose of paralyzing you while he attempts to bring up old events that have been forgiven and false accusations that cause you to retreat or even quit. The truth of the matter is when you solidify the reality of your right standing, you will step up and boldly began to reign in your body, mind, bank accounts, relationships and career; this is the fight of faith. You’re not trying to overcome; you are the overcomer! Don’t give the devil an inch and allow him to think he’s a ruler in your life. Stop him today and with all boldness SPEAK the word concerning your life and take back the peace God has so adequately given you. Let’s begin to live life the way God intended us to, righteous, bold and in Him.
